Edward Carl Cephas, Sr.

Edward Carl Cephas, Sr., age 74, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 15, 1948 to the late Edward Saunders and Alice Cephas.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death two weeks ago by his loving wife, Catherine Taylor Cephas and a brother, Cornelius Cephas and two grandchildren DaVonta Cephas and Natasha Cephas.  Mr. Cephas was a retired mechanic who worked in manufacturing.

He was a loving man who loved family and laughter.  He was known as “Pee-Wee” to his family and Pete to his friends.  He loved to watch western movies on TV, listen to music and sit at his computer.

He is survived by sons, Edward Cephas, Jr. of Sanford and Gary Cephas and wife, Sahamesh of Philadelphia; daughters, Lashawne Smith and husband, Michael of Sanford, Carla Cephas of Sanford and Tomeka Moore and husband, Danny of Philadelphia; sisters, Alice Towles and husband, Joel of Philadelphia and Barbara Haywood of Georgia and grandchildren, Laurie Cephas, Michael Smith, Jr., Helena Smith, Khalia Wiley and Ariel Moore.
