Edith "Jeanette" (Cox) Holder

Edith “Jeanette” Holder, age 92, of Broadway, NC, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at her home.

Jeannette was born in Lee County on May 28, 1933 to the late Joseph Brutman Cox and Edith Kelly Cox.  She was preceded in death by her brothers, Ed Cox and Donald Cox; sister Patsy Jo Pruett; son Robert W. Thomas, Sr. and a great-granddaughter Valorie Hutchens.

She is survived by her husband Earl M. Holder; son Gary M. Thomas, Sr. and wife Pam and daughter Patricia Bridgers and husband Warren.

Affectionally known as “Mema”, she leaves behind seven grandchildren Andrea Thomas, Robbie Thomas, Gary M. Thomas, Jr., Cliff Thomas, Luke Thomas and wife Kelli, Mandy Johnson and husband Jeremy, Katy Bridgers and husband Ryan Hughes; eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Jeanette was a faithful member of Broadway United Methodist Church.  She loved to cook, bake and sew.  Earl was the love of her life and they shared over 57 years together. They enjoyed watching games shows, westerns and old TV shows. NASCAR races and a frozen pizza were a regular Sunday night event.

The family would like to thank the staff at Centerwell Home Health for providing care these last few months.

The family will receive friends at Broadway United Methodist Church on Friday August 22, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 1l:00 AM. And at other times at the family home, (111 Dalrymple Road, Broadway, NC  27505) A funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kryshna Jamis and Rev. Fallon Melvin officiating. Burial will follow at Broadway Town cemetery.
