Earnest "BIG E" William Hensley

Earnest “Earnie” “Big E” Hensley, age 58, of Sanford, NC, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

He was born in Raleigh County, West Virginia on February 25, 1965 to Earnest Clyde Hensley and Irene Horton Hensley.  His father preceded him in death.  Earnie was a career truck driver. He’s driven trucks for 30 years with the last 22 years driving for J.B. Hunt Trucking.  His handle was “Pizza Man” and had driven over 3 million miles during his career. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carmen Foley Hensley; children Brandon Delp (Christy) of Rock Hill, SC, Jillian Niedworok of Sanford, Kalah McFarland (Daniel) of Sanford; brothers Robert Hensley (Melissa), Billy Hensley, Brian Hensley, Bobby Hensley (Melinda) all of Beckley, WV and grandchildren Cheyenne, Jackson, Kason, Aiden, Allie, Aubrey, Lacy, Hunter and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Monday, May 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Flat Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Gary McCollough officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
