Donnie Richard Buchanan

Donnie Richard Buchanan, age 82, of Sanford, NC, passed away Friday, December 5, 2025, at Peak Resources in Carthage.

He was born in Lee County on November 10, 1943 to the late Tom Buchanan and Magdalene Thomas Buchanan Moody.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Larry Wade Buchanan and James Ralph Buchanan.  Donnie is survived by his wife, of 58 years, Peggy Raper Buchanan, son Todd Buchanan; brother Tommie Ray Buchanan; grandchildren Bailey Todd Buchanan, Caleb Scott Buchanan (Breanna Johnson) and great-grandson Caiden Scott Buchanan.

Donnie was a talented machinist and worked 25 years for Whitin-Roberts and 17 years for Parker-Hannifin.  He was a faithful member of Kendale Acres Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time at White Lake and sitting on his front porch swing.  He had a love for trucks and working in his yard. 

A Memorial Service will be held at Kendale Acres Freewill Baptist Church on Monday, December 15, 2025 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Doug Western officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church.
