Donald Murphree Obituary

Donald Barney Murphree, age 84, of Sanford, NC died Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center following an automobile accident which also took the love of his life, his wife, Mary Land Murphree.

He was born in Multnomah County, Oregon on June 26, 1935 to the late Jesse Reynolds and Margo Yost Murphree. He was also preceded in death by his step-father Wallace Murphree and siblings Leverne Louise McVey, William Clark Murphree and Edward Reynolds. Donald was a very successful professional painter.

Donald and Jean married in 1962 after only one week of meeting. He is survived by children Donald Russell Murphree of Sanford, Katherine Anne Murphree and husband James Alden Ostrander of Cameron, Robert Wayne Murphree of Sanford, Donna Murphree Bodenhamer and husband David of Sanford; grandchildren Christine Murphree, Damian Murphree, Charli McCracken and husband Noah, Gaberiel Bodenhamer, Heather Murphree, Jason Murphree and great-grandchildren Damian and Elanor Murphree.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
