Fishing 14

Donald Elbert Cox, Jr.

September 9, 1956 ~ January 4, 2022 (age 65)

Donald E. Cox, Jr. of Sanford, NC went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.  He was preceded in death by his parents Donald E. Cox, Sr. and Ruby Nickens Cox and brother-in-law Van Sharpe.  He was a beloved husband to Beth W. Cox and beloved brother to Linda Sharpe of Sanford.

Donald started working for the telephone company in Sanford when it was Heins.  He had been there 47 years.  He liked his job, and all the guys he worked with, but he loved the beach and fishing, mostly surf fishing.  Donnie loved when you could pack up the truck and to drive on the beach to fish.  He would ride, see if anyone was catching anything then find that perfect place, where he just knew he would catch one.  He would jump out and put the rod holders up, then get the fishing rods ready and you had to at least have 3 to 4 rods out.  Then he would bait them all and then cast away.  He would just look and wait till one of the rods would bend and he would get so excited.  He didn’t care if it was the size of your hand or a nice one, he just loved catching one.  Then he would hold it up with the biggest smile for me to see.  I will miss that smile.

Instead of flowers you can give to St. Jude or a charity of your choice.  Because of COVID there will be no home visitation.
