Diane Frances Bruso (née Chellis), aged 86, formerly of Plattsburgh, NY passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on September 7, 2024, in Sanford, NC.
She was born in Plattsburgh on July 7, 1938, to the late George T. and Edith Mae Pattison Chellis. Diane graduated from Plattsburgh High School. On July 25, 1959 Diane married (Rev.) Robert Bruso also of Plattsburgh. She furthered her education at CVPH Radiological School.
Her career was marked by her compassionate service as a Radiology Tech at Mercy General Hospital in Tupper Lake, NY. She chose roles that supported her community and faith, including working as a cook at New Beginnings Day Care in Plattsburgh, NY.
Diane fully embraced her role as Pastor’s wife serving at Long Lake Wesleyan. Chelmsford (MA) Wesleyan and Balltown (Niskayuna) Wesleyan Churches, as well as serving and singing with her husband in general evangelist work.
Diane dedicated much of her life to the service of others, both in her professional career and personal pursuits. She was known for her deep and abiding faith and would spend hours in God’s Word and praying over a long “prayer warrior” list. She spent much of her time with her grandchildren, Kristi (Scott), Kyle (Marikate), Meagan, Jack and her great-grandchildren, Alexa, Corban, Adlin, Margaret, Maverick and Mae.
A longtime member of Turnpike Wesleyan Church in Plattsburgh, NY, and later at Journey Church of Sanford, NC, Diane also volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher and a greeter and participated in the Silver Sneakers program at the YMCA, reflecting her lifelong commitment to community service and health.
Diane was the dedicated wife of the late Rev. Robert Bruso and was preceded in death by her twin brother David (at birth) and her sister Patricia Robbins. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (James) Groves of Sanford, NC; sons, Robert (Rebecca) Bruso of Olean, NY and Mark Bruso of Ruther Glen, VA as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
In remembrance of Diane’s giving spirit, contributions may be made to Samaritan’s Purse, an organization close to her heart. Diane will be remembered for her quiet, giving nature, her smile, and her devotion to her God, her family and community.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will follow at 10:00 am in the chapel with Dr. Vincent Charron and Rev. Ralph Chapman officiating. Burial will take place in Plattsburgh, NY at a future date.
