Dee Anna Baker Strickland, age 62, of Sanford, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, singing and dancing, on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at her home.
She was born in Lee County on February 16, 1960 to Pastor Ralph Junior Baker and Marquetta Poole Baker. She was preceded in death by her brother Ralph “Jim” Baker, Jr. Dee Anna was a gifted musician and vocalist. She played piano, organ and many other instruments. Although she had piano lessons, she could also play by ear. She never met a stranger and loved animals, especially horses. Her favorite hobbies were working in her flowers and garden but most important was having her family and grandchildren at her home. Dee Anna had worked for the Pantry offices and This End Up Furniture.
In addition to her parents, Pastor Ralph and Marquetta Baker, she is survived by her husband Cale Strickland; her daughters Amber Rhodes and Crystal Case of Sanford; step-daughters Ashley Strickland Prevatte and husband James, Stacey Strickland of Rockingham, Kevin Strickland and wife Cameron all of Rockingham; sister Sherry Baird and husband Donnie of Sanford; brother Burtis Woodrow Baker and wife Mary of Vermont.
She is also survived by grandchildren, who fondly called her “ Nanny”, Aubrey, Casady and Joseph Howard; Hailey Rhodes, Ashlynne Patton, Mollee Anna Brock, Cali Bethany Brock, Denaysia Jennings, Alyssa Roberts, McKenzie Roberts, Madaline Roberts, Kinston Strickland, Killian Strickland, Caitlyn Strickland, Gavin and Camden Stein; great-grandson Tayden Harrington and many nieces, nephews and cousins .
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 25th at 11:00 AM at Grace Chapel Church Cemetery with Pastor Randy Buchanan and Pastor Ralph Baker officiating.
