Deborah “Debby” Ann LaCayo, age 61, passed away Sunday, December 21, 2025. Debby was born on August 7, 1964, in Manhattan, NY to the late Peggy Ann Walston Arnette, and Alex Allen LaCayo. She spent her childhood in Sanford, NC surrounded by her large extended family consisting of her most beloved grandma, the late Anna Margaret Medlin Walston, her many special aunts, uncles, and cousins, and of course, her cherished mama, brother, and stepdad.
She is survived by her four children; Jonathan Cole (Danielle) of Alabama, Ashley Cole of North Carolina, Ashton Cole of Florida, and Michaela Brown (James) of North Carolina.
She was the proud grandmother to her nine grandchildren; James, Abigail, Noah, Kenzie, Sahara, Coleson, Adeline, Carver, and Bear.
She deeply cherished her relationship with her special brother Joseph “Joey” LaCayo and wife Kelly of Broadway, NC. She was also most proud of her nephews and niece; JR, Amanda, David, and Joshua.
In life, she was passionate about her love of gardening, crafting, listening to “good music”, and cooking a meal for those she loved. Some will remember her most for her vivacious “life of the party” attitude that some say could light up any room. Others may remember her most cherished moments of sunrise on a beach, a good pond for cane fishing, and her two most precious dogs.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Cameron Town/Community Cemetery with Rev. Robert Thomas officiating.
