Deborah “Debbie” Louise Matthews Harper, age 64, of Lillington, NC passed peacefully in her home on Thursday, January 2, 2025. She was born in Lee County to the late John Matthews and Mabel Fisher Matthews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Barry Hicks.
Debbie was a Data Manager for the Harnett County School System, and with the Pantry’s main office for 30 plus years. She loved to garden and cook for her family and friends, especially during the holidays and special occasions. She was a hard worker, she came in early and made sure that there was a fresh pot of coffee for her co-workers when they arrived. She loved trips to the beach. She loved her animals like family. Her free spirit and love for life will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Debbie is survived by husband Ray Harper, son Greg Hicks (Emily) of Lillington, NC; sisters Linda Coleman, of Lillington, NC; Patsy McBryde (Chip) of Broadway, NC. Step-daughters, Staci (Jason); April, and Cheryne. Grandchildren: JB, Grace, Trenton, Tenley, Casi, Xander. As well as many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Bridges and Cameron Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Ashley Cummings officiating.
