Dean Edward Dowling

Lieutenant Colonel Dean Dowling, 81, passed away on January 23 at his home in Chapel Hill surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Josephine Dowling, no siblings.

He retired after a distinguished career in the United States Army.  During his career, he was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart in addition to other numerous commendations and awards.

Dean was married to Brenda Graham Dowling for 47 years. They combined a family of his two sons, Keith and Brian Dowling and her two daughters, Jo Anne Cameron Russo and Julie Cameron Rudowski, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

A graveside service  will be held on Wednesday,  April 10, 2024 at 9:00 am in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC.
