David Starr Obituary

David Lynn Starr, age 73, of Sanford, NC, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Central Carolina Hospital, with his family by his side.

He was born in Moore County, NC on December 29, 1950 to the late Orvel Starr, Jr. and Juanita Mae Harkey Starr.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Crystal Starr Garner.  David bravely served our country in the United States Marine Corps and toured in Vietnam.  He worked as an engineer for Magnetti Marelli and Edelbrock.  David was master-chef and grill-master, cooking for his big loving family any chance he got.  He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Linda Williams Starr; son Brandon Starr (Mariryan); daughter Brieanna Starr; brothers Richard Starr (Norma), Rodney (Susie), Tony Starr (Rebecca), Gary Starr (Kim); sisters Rita Kreusch, Patty Oakley (Buck), Lisa Perry (Michael) and three grandchildren Kennedy Ryan Starr, Ava Kathleen Starr and Easton McKinnley Starr.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, November 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Zion Christian  Church with Rev. Ward Haas, Rev. Steve Johnson and Rev. Lacey Frye officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at David’s family home, 508 Petty Road, Sanford, NC 27330.
