David Murphy

William David Murphy, age 74, of Sanford, NC, died Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at UNC Hospitals.

David was born in Lee County, on Feb. 13, 1946, to the late Joyce Murphy and Callie Tuttle Murphy.  In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by a son, Timmy Murphy; brothers Wayne Murphy and Darius Murphy; a sister Annie Lou Garrett.  He served his country in the US Army and retired from Cherokee Brick Company and later worked for Lee County Transit System (COLTS).

He is survived by his fiancée, the love of his life, Alene Slotter of Sanford; daughters, Tonia Murphy Gunter and husband Jeffrey of Broadway and Tina Murphy of Sanford; sisters, Linda Happ of Sanford and Brenda Holder of Cameron; two grandchildren, Haylee Quick and Jason Ertle ll.

A graveside celebration of life will be held at Lee Memory Gardens Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, 3PM.  A visitation will be held Sat., Nov. 28, 2020 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home from 5 to 6:30PM.  In lieu of flowers, please make memorial to Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, 600 W. Main St., Sanford, NC 27332. A visitation will be held at Tonia Gunter’s home, 105 Belmont Lane, Broadway, NC after the celebration of life service.
