Darrell Phillip Checketts

Darrell Checketts, age 32, of North Carolina, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, at his home.

He was born in Orange County, California on December 14, 1990, to Jacki Checketts and the late Phillip Checketts.   Darrell graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from The University of North Georgia.  He worked just under two years as a Police Officer at the North Carolina General Assembly.  Prior to that he worked as a Corrections Officer in Georgia.   He loved nothing more than being a police officer.  He was hard- working, creative, and funny; he loved to make people laugh.  He will be deeply missed.

Darrell is survived by his mother, Jacki of Sanford; brother, Dylan of Georgia; sister, Montanna of Sanford; maternal grandmother, Micki Van Houten of California; maternal grandparents, Roy and Carol Van Houten of California; paternal grandparents, Darrell and Nancy Checketts and many special aunts and uncles. He is also survived by his dog, Snow.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 11:00 AM at 1HOPE Assembly of God, 1922 Henley Road, Sanford, NC. The family will greet friends following the service.
