Danny Ray Nunnery, Sr.

Danny Ray Nunnery, Sr. age 67, of Sanford, NC, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the FirstHealth Hospice House in West End.

He was born in Lee County, NC on November 23, 1957 to the late James Luther “Luke” Nunnery and Kathleen Hurley Nunnery.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Patsy Faye Brand Nunnery and children Danny Ray Nunnery, Jr., Jessica Nunnery and Sammy Nunnery.

Danny worked all his life as an auto mechanic.  The best job he ever had was being “Papa” to his children and grandchildren.  He loved his family and enjoyed spoiling them.

He is survived by his wife Angela “Angel” Comer Nunnery; children Kristie Medlin (Brian), James Luther “Luke” Nunnery, Jr. (Abbey), Meghan Hertzog; siblings Brenda Nunnery Sawyer, James Waylon Nunnery, Wanda Nunnery Branch, Roger Dale Nunnery, Lila Diane Potts (Jack), Ricky Lee Nunnery (Sylvia “Tootie”) and seven loving grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 27, 2025  from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Jones Chapel United Methodist Church with funeral service following at 1:00 PM with Pastor Derek Howard officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
