Clay Douglas Moore, 53, passed away on January 27, 2025, in Sanford, North Carolina. Born on June 17, 1971, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Clay lived a life marked by dedication to his family, career, and passions.
A graduate of West Mecklenburg High School, Clay built a successful career as a warehouse administrator at Wesco, where he worked for 20 years. In addition to his long tenure there, he was also a business owner, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to hard work. His professional life was characterized by reliability and expertise, earning the respect of colleagues and peers.
Clay proudly served in the United States Navy and was stationed in Orlando, Florida. He continued his service in the Naval Reserves for 12 years, embodying discipline and dedication to his country. His time in the military shaped his character and instilled values that he carried throughout his life.
Beyond his career and service, Clay had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether fishing on quiet waters or playing softball with friends, he found joy in nature and sports. He was also passionate about cars and followed various sports with enthusiasm. His knowledge extended across many areas, and he was always willing to share insights with those around him.
Above all else, Clay cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife of ten years, Heather Casali Moore; his fraternal twins: Thomas Dean Moore (wife Patricia Baranowski Moore); Easton Grier Moore (wife Madeline Allen Moore); Heather's children: Alayna Morgan Bostwick; and Savannah Lynn Bostwick. He was a proud grandfather to Oaklee Mae Moore, Beckham Grier Moore, and Sheperd Allen Moore. Clay also helped raise Dusty Pepper and Cierra Lewis who he cherished. Clay is survived by his father, Thomas Moore; siblings Mark Moore (Kim), Janet Moore Alford (Grant), and Kevin Moore (Tracy); as well as five nephews and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Gail Moore, and father Walter Thomas Dickerson.
Clay will be remembered for his authenticity, kindness, respect for others, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family. His presence brought warmth to those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
