Cindy Truitt, age 73, of Sanford, NC passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Central Carolina Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born in Bedford, Virginia on May 14, 1949, to the late James D. Ashley and Jean Santos Ashley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her nephew, David Johnson.
Cindy owned her own cleaning business with her longtime friend, Betty Lewis. To this day, her customers will say they were the best at what they did.
Cindy was creative, inspiring, and loving to all. She touched many people in her life, and she was always the life of the party and “the hostess with the mostess.” She hosted many parties, though most will remember her epic Christmas parties. She loved camping, especially in Emerald Isle, NC, Jordan Lake for “Camping with Friends”, anywhere in the mountains of NC, and Bushnell, FL. She loved her family and her baby girls, BooBoo and Bella, the two best Shihtzus in the world. She will be a light that is both greatly missed and forever cherished in the hearts and minds of those that loved her.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Larry; daughters, Mandy and Jamie Hicks, both of Bath, NC; granddaughter Emma Grubbs of Bath, NC; siblings, Susan Strusa and her husband Steve of Portsmouth, VA, Nancy Johnson and her husband Eddie of Hampton, VA and David Ashley and his wife Kathy of Portsmouth, VA; nieces, Michelle Wesdock and her husband Brendan, Melissa Foster and her husband Tom, Jennifer Chambers and her husband Mark, Meagan and Elizabeth Ashley, and two special nephews, Noah and Jack.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 PM with Eddie Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.
