Charles Wayne Riddle, age 71, of the Deep River Community, passed away Friday, April 10, 2026 at his home, with his family by his side.
He was born in Cumberland County, NC on July 17, 1954 to the late Charles “Charlie” Alexander Riddle and Doris Jean Douglas Wicker. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Carol Matthews Riddle and daughter Kimberly Jean Riddle.
Wayne served our country in the United States Navy and worked many years in sales and trucking before his veteran’s-based disabilities kept him from working. He enjoyed hunting and fishing until health wouldn’t allow those activities. He was a loving and patient husband, Father and Grandfather.
Wayne is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Peggy Day Riddle; children Michael Scott Riddle and wife Crystal Jones Riddle, Stephen Brent Riddle and wife Danielle Atkins Riddle, Angela Jane Ashley and husband Bobby Ashley; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Jones Chapel Church Cemetery with Pastor Chris Pipes officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church cemetery and other times at the family home. A viewing, for the family, will be held Monday, April 13th at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Then Wayne will lie-in-state for friends to come by the funeral home and pay their respects.
