Charles Ruffin Norris, age 96, of Broadway, NC, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Harnett County February 27, 1929 to the late Archie B. Norris and Nellie May Hughes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Vilar Norris; grandson Welsey Wicker, brothers Rev. William Earl Norris, Clarence Norris, Roy Norris, Lee Norris, Willie Norris, Clyde Norris, Jessie Norris and sister Betty Mason.
He retired after many years as a skilled machinist with Roberts Company. Retirement didn’t slow him down for long—he quickly found joy in buying and selling at flea markets, always on the hunt for a good deal. He loved the thrill of finding a bargain and the stories that came with every purchase. Family was the center of his life. He especially cherished time spent with his great-grandchildren, whose laughter and “butterfly kisses” brought him endless happiness.
He is survived by his sons Bobby Norris and wife Barbara of Sneads Ferry, NC; David Norris of Sanford, NC; daughter Gloria Wicker and husband Robert of Broadway, NC; sisters Thelma Norris of Sanford, Rachel Norris of Sanford; grandchildren Candace, Travis, Audrey; 10 great grandchildren and ex-wife Celia Norris.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 1:00 pm until 1:50 pm at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Lee Memory Gardens.
