Charlene Ann (Bernard) Watson

Charlene Ann Bernard Watson, age 78, of Sanford, NC, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 19, 1942 to the late Charles Edward Bernard and Claire Cartier Bernard.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Kenneth R. Watson; sisters Dorothy Brown, Margorie Walsh and Janet O’Connell and granddaughter Mateka Watson-Talbott.  Charlene worked many years at Wal-Mart.   She was passionate and volunteered for The Dream Factory which is a national organization which grants wishes for children who have life-threatening and chronic illnesses.  In her spare time, she enjoyed making wreaths.

She is survived by daughter Deanne Robertson and husband Richard (Bud) of Sanford; son Dale Watson and wife Donna of Springfield, Massachusetts; sister Elaine La’Pierre of Gardner, Massachusetts; sisters-in-law Martha Pena of Hope Valley, Rhode Island and Mary Jane Watson of Mancester, Connecticut; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She was extremely proud of her two grandsons Thorne and Cody Robertson for their service in the US Army.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  A memorial service will follow in the chapel with Deacon Bob Bridwell officiating.  Burial to follow at a later date at St. Francis of Assisi Church Cemetery in Wakefield, RI.
