Carolyn "Carol" Jean (Smith) Holland

Carolyn Smith Holland, 73, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family July 23, 2024.

She was born March 4, 1951 in Raleigh, NC to Charles Lee Smith and Daisy Maythorne Holland Smith.  She enjoyed 18 months as only child before Joyce Smith Jenkins (Sherwood) of Wake Forest, NC was born and the two have been inseparable ever since. She graduated from Garner High School and then attended Troutmans Cosmetology School while working for Winn Dixie.  There she met Stacy Clifton Holland Jr., they dated for 3 months before getting engaged and were married just 3 months later, on August 8, 1971.

Shortly after they moved to Sanford, NC and she began working as a hair stylist at Adeles Salon, a few years later in 1982 she and Janice Spivey opened the Hair Design Team. She retired in 2020 after 46 years of doing hair and makeup.

She was an active member of Grace Chapel Church. She sang in the choir, volunteered in the nursery and Awanas program, she helped with decorations, costumes, hair and makeup for events, programs, and holidays.  She cooked meals, desserts and visited with those in need, and went on countless trips with her Sunday school class.

Carol was so talented and had many hobbies; she loved to sing, dance, especially shag, play the piano and guitar, sew, draw, paint, decorate for every holiday, garden, bake, take pictures, feed her birds, shop with her sister, and spend time with her family.

Most importantly she loved The Lord and her family. She would tell anyone and everyone about her daughters Stephanie Holland Kirk (Kyle) of Pinehurst, NC and Sherry Lynn Morrison (Michael) of Naples, FL. She loved to brag on and tell you the current ages all of her seven grandchildren: Rilee Morrison, Taylor Morrison, Sloan Morrison, Holland Kirk, Abigail Kirk, Jeremiah Kirk, and Zane Morrison.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 26, 2024 from 12:00-1:00 pm at Grace Chapel Church. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm with Dr. Royce Baker officiating.
