Carmella Carley Obituary

Carmella Angelina Valentino Carley, age 84, of Sanford, NC passed away at First Health Hospice in Moore Co. on Monday Oct. 28.

Born in Essex, NJ to the late Gertrude Just and Anthony Valentino.  She found the love of her life in John Carley, who also preceded her in death in 2007. Carmella and John grew together and were happily married for over 48 years during which time welcomed 2 children into their lives. John Martin and Mark Carley. Along with 5 grandchildren who she completely adored (Alex, Chris, John, Lila, Serena and Noelia).

Carmella spent most of her life working in service. The bulk of that time at TLC Home in Sanford NC. A place where she "adopted" the children there to help them as she did her own.

She was a proud member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church since her and her family moved to Sanford in 1987. Always a devout Christian she found time to volunteer and teach CCD to the young parishioners. That same church and members kindly helped her consistently through her elderly years.

After retirement she found her solace in volunteering with CYFC (Christian Youth Fellowship Council) helping to deliver food and faith to people in the Lee County area.

She was a loving and faithful wife, a nurturing mother, and a kind friend to those close to her. She will be missed dearly.

The funeral service will follow at Lee Memory Gardens (2600 Hawkins Ave Sanford, NC 27332) on Sunday, November 10 at 2:30pm.

The family will be accepting visitors after the service.
