Carl Travis Britt, age 31, of Sanford, NC passed away peacefully at his home on May 10, 2024.
He was born in Orange County, NC on Sept 30, 1992 to Ruth McNeill Britt and Terry Kelly was his Daddy. Carl had the kindest heart, enjoyed laughter, loved music and vacuum cleaners, never met a stranger, and loved his family and caregivers.
Carl was a miracle baby, surviving and thriving for many years with the rare trisomy 15 chromosome disorder. He graduated from Floyd L Knight in 2015. He attended several day programs for special needs individuals for many years. He competed in the Special Olympics and was even chosen to open the games one year.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Britt and partner Chris Heuser, father Terry Kelly and step-mom Jessica, grandfathers, Carl Wayne McNeill and Gene Faircloth, brother Joshua Holman and sister Brittany Coley, step brothers Jeremy Wolbeck, Joseph Wolbeck and Payton Sharpe, Aunts, Karen Binkley, Pam Mimms, Uncle Teddy Kelly, nieces and nephews, Joshelyn, Joseph and Jacqueline Holman. Noah, Lilly and Ruby Coley. Cousins, Kevin Baker, Jordan Binkley, Maigon Fisher, Cesily Evans, Taylor Kelly, Rhonda Layton and Granny Miller.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother Brenda McNeill, and a special Uncle Timmy Kelly.
The family would like to thank so many people that cared for and touched Carl’s life. Larry Johnson and family were devoted caregivers. Also, Crystal Moore, Kay Kelly and Jennifer Udey, doctors, nurses, and staff at UNC Hospital.
The family has held a private memorial. Any donations in Carl’s honor should be made to the charity of your choice.
