Travis, Candace, Aubrey, and Walker Buchanan went home to their Lord and Savior following a plane crash on Monday, July 7, 2025. They died doing what they loved, which was flying to their favorite vacation spots around the United States together as a family.
Travis Wayne Buchanan, age 35, was born August 3, 1989, to Donald “Donnie” Wayne Buchanan and Donna Lynn Harrington Buchanan. In addition to his parents, Travis is survived by his brother, Justin Buchanan of New York, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Travis was an avid farmer since childhood and devoted his life to his family and farm work. After graduating from Lee County High School in 2007, he later went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Candace. Travis founded Buchanan Farms, through which he raised tobacco and many other crops. Additionally, he operated a produce market and logging business.
Candace Cameron Buchanan, age 35, was born August 28, 1989, to Norman “Levon” Cameron and Katherine “Kathy” Tillotson Cameron. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sisters, Cindy Cameron McCormick (Chris) of Broadway, along with their children Cameron James McCormick and Kelsey Lynn McCormick and Crystal Cameron Harwell (Charles) of Broadway, along with Crystal’s children, Madison Marie Brown and Dillon Raymond Brown. Candace also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Candace graduated from Lee County High School in 2007. She enjoyed attending concerts and going to rodeos as well as riding around the farm with her family. Candace worked alongside her husband at Buchanan Farms and also held a full-time position at Duke Energy as a Senior Nuclear Work Management Specialist.
Their daughter, Aubrey Renee Buchanan, age 10, was born April, 11th, 2015. Aubrey was a rising 5th grader at Grace Christian School. She loved to dance and was a member of Triple Pointe Dance Academy. Her energy and constant smile always lit up whatever room she was in.
Their son, Walker Wayne Buchanan, age 9, was born July, 5th, 2016. He was a rising 4th grader at Grace Christian School. Walker’s favorite things to do were riding on his daddy’s tractors and helping on the farm. His sweet demeanor brought joy to all his friends and family.
Together, the Buchanan family held a special place in their hometown. The many festivals and other events at Buchanan Farms provided opportunities for people to come together and celebrate. The family was well-known for their kindness and generosity and had a profound effect on their community.
