Brenda Sue (Montgomery) Nichols

Brenda Sue Montgomery Nichols, age 78 of Sanford, NC, passed away Monday April 13, 2026 at her home surrounded by family.

She was born in Fayetteville, NC on October 26, 1947 to the late Oscar Lee Montgomery, Sr. and Mary Sue Rhodes Montgomery.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson John Tucker Walsh and lifelong companion Melvin McBride.

Brenda worked in Quality Control for CP&L for many years and also worked at Belk Department Store for 20 years.  She loved being outdoors enjoying the flowers and mowing grass.  She was very friendly, never met a stranger and was loved by so many in the community.  Brenda loved her Belk family with all her heart.

She is survived by her son Charley Hall of Fayetteville; daughter Angie Nichols of Sanford, brother Lee “Buster” Montgomery of Fayetteville; sister Vivian Autry and husband James of Fayetteville; grandchildren Tanner Walsh, Taylor Walsh, Sydney Thompkins, Morgan Sealey and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.  A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Camp Ground United Methodist Church Cemetery (4625 Campground Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28314) with Pastor Bobby Herring officiating.
