Brenda Cole Brannan, age 73, of Sanford, NC, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021, at her home, with her family by her side.
She was born in Lee County, NC on March 5, 1948 to the late Homer Franklin Cole and Dorothy Richardson Cole. Brenda attended Sanford Business College and retired from Lee County Health Department where she worked for 32 years. She was a faithful member of White Hill Presbyterian Church where she served in many capacities including keeping the nursery with her husband for years. She was well known for her chocolate meringue pies at the Harvest Sale and during the holidays. She loved the beach, mountains, flowers, gardening and watching her favorite birds, cardinals. Most importantly she loved her family and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren with anything they wanted, within reason. She always said if she had known how much fun grandchildren would be, she would have had them first. Weekly night dinners with her family brought her great joy.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Eddie George Brannan; son Eddie Franklin Brannan and wife Angela Jordan Brannan; daughter Nicole Brannan Thompson and husband David all of Sanford; grandchildren Eddie Jordan Brannan, Emily Christine Thompson and Daniel Allen Thompson; brother and sisters-in-law Larry and Pat Brannan of Jackson Springs, Bobby and Kay Brannan of Sanford and Katherine Brannan of Sanford; many nieces and host of other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at White Hill Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jean Sparks officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall and at other times at the family home.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations to White Hill Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 5258, Sanford, NC 27332 and/or FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.
The family wishes to thank Lawanda and Lisa with FirstHealth Hospice for their wonderful care.
