Obituary
Boyd Lathan Gwyn, age 85, of Sanford, NC, passed away at home on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
Lathan was born in Lee County on June 18, 1937 to the late Hallie Gwyn. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, Patrick “Shorty” Priest. He was a member of White Hill Presbyterian Church and worked 29 years as a truck driver for Standard Trucking. He was a Mason for over 50 years and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years.
He is survived by his wife, of 44 years, Mary Surles Gwyn; son Michael Gwyn; daughter Rebekah Gwyn; half-siblings Owen Priest, Huey Priest, Jean Marsh, Mary McClean and Doug Priest.
A graveside service will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at White Hill Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Pastor Jean Sparks officiating. The family will greet friends following the graveside in the cemetery.
