Bonnie (Ashworth) Hughes

Bonnie Ashworth Hughes, age 81, of Sanford, NC passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024 at her home surrounded by her children.

She was born in Lee County to the late James Hurley Ashworth and Kathleen Baker Ashworth.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Howard Hughes, Sr. and an infant son Jerry Scott Hughes.  Moma loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart.  She has always prayed for her family and friends to trust Christ as their personal Savior.  She loved her family unconditionally.  She loved any and everything to do with the beach, especially lighthouses, pelicans, and seagulls.  She is survived by her children Howard Hughes, Jr. (Sheila), Darryl Lynn Hughes (Angela) both of Sanford, NC; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Sue Ashworth Haynes (Rodney) of Yukon Cornelius, NC, Ronald Eugene Ashworth (Beverly) of Chocowinity, NC, Wanda Ashworth Teal (Danny) of Sanford, NC as well as nieces and nephews all whom she loved dearly.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM  at Grace Chapel Cemetery with Chaplain Allen Winters officiating.
