Bobby "Joey" Joe Stewart

Bobby Joe “Joey” Stewart, age 67, of Sanford, NC, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylorsville, NC.

He was born in Lee County, NC on March 19, 1957 to the late Robert Howard Stewart and Mary Elizabeth Beal Wright.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Danielle Reece Stewart.

Joey was a friend to everyone he met.  He served our community as a local insurance agent for 42 years. He loved old car shows and volunteered and cooked for The Bread Basket of Sanford.  He attended Poplar Springs Methodist Church.  More than anything, Joey loved spending time with his family and the grandchildren.  He attended their school events and ballgames and cheered them on from the sidelines.

He is survived by his wife, of almost 46 years, Holly Holt Stewart; children Allison Stewart Hickman and husband Chris, Joseph “Joe” Stewart; siblings Sharon Lucas, Susie Hardy and husband Jimmy, Butch Stewart and wife Donna, Brian Stewart and wife Karen; and grandchildren Logan, Cole, Aubrey, Liam Hickman and Kyndall, Kameron, Kynlee Jo Stewart and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 8, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 9th at 2:00 PM at Piney Grove Methodist Church with Rev. Fallon Melvin and Bobby Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
