Bobbie Jean Stone, affectionately known as “BJ,” of Carthage, NC, age 86, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. She passed peacefully with her daughters by her side at First Health Hospice and Palliative Care of Moore County, NC.
Born on June 9, 1938, in Lee County, Bobbie was the daughter of the late Garland Forrest Beal and Maggie Oldham Beal. She was the cherished granddaughter of Joseph John Beal and Florence Hilliard Beal of Bonlee, NC, and Vinson Oldham and Vallie Tally Oldham of Chatham County, NC.
A proud graduate of King’s College in Charlotte, NC, Bobbie earned a degree in Business Administration and enjoyed a successful 35-year career in executive and administrative roles. She married the late Willie Mack Thomas and together they raised three children: Cyndee, Ricky, and Tammie.
Bobbie found joy in sports, being a diehard Tar Heel fan and a devoted follower of NASCAR, cheering for number 48, Jimmie Johnson. She had a beautiful smile and a great sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around her.
A beloved member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Bobbie was always ready to lend a helping hand, offering comfort to anyone in need. She cherished her friendships within her church family and looked forward to participating in services and activities.
Known for her uplifting spirit, wisdom, and strong character, Bobbie will be most remembered for her merciful heart and selfless nature. She dedicated her life to giving, often visiting the sick and the infirmed, providing comfort through thoughtful gestures like bringing flowers, special treats, and singing soothing songs. Bobbie also served as a devoted caregiver to her brother during his final years, always imparting courage to those facing life’s hardships.
With her generous heart, Bobbie rescued many stray dogs and cats, providing them with loving forever homes. She exemplified forgiveness and kindness, even towards those who did not treat her with the same kindness she showed them.
Bobbie fought the good fight and finished the race. She is loved deeply, and knowing she is in the presence of her Savior and Creator brings peace and joy to our hearts as she is missed in this life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Richard Mack Thomas, her identical twin sister Betty James Beal Kroninger, and three brothers: Norman Tull Beal, Herman Leroy Beal, and Roger Edward Beal.
Bobbie is survived by her daughter Cynthia D. Fowler and son-in-law Mike Fowler of Carthage, NC; daughter Tammie T. McConnell of Raleigh, NC, and her beloved Chihuahua, Chico. She is also survived by her sister Marilyn Sehen of Sanford, NC, ten nieces, seven nephews, and a host of “adopted” nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom she dearly loved.
