Billy Ray McDonald

Billy Ray McDonald, age 78, of Cameron, NC, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024 at FirstHealth Moore Reginal Hospital.

He was born in Moore County, NC on November 16, 1945, to the late Gilbert McDonald and Ethel Hill McDonald.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Jeanette McDonald Lemons; brother Nelson Irman McDonald, Sr. and nephew Gary McDonald.

Billy Ray was an avid sports fan. His favorite team was the Carolina Panthers. He enjoyed working in the garden, especially with his fruit trees.  He worked many years as a stock clerk for Belk Department stores and he proudly served his country in the US Army.

He is survived by his brother Roger McDonald and wife Joann of Newport News, Va.; nephews Nelson McDonald and wife Genelle of Cameron, Terry Earl McDonald and wife Annette of New London, Greg McDonald and wife Tamera of Warrenton Va.; nieces Angie Roland and husband Drew of Carlton, Va., Jan Agreste and husband Jeff of Cameron, NC, Teresa Wilkshire and husband Bob of Williamsburg Va. and Peggy Lassiter of Cameron, NC.

A graveside service will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Union Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Mercer Officiating.
