Billy Lee Cranford, 91, of Oak Island, NC, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.
Born in Lee County, Sanford, NC on September 29, 1933, Bill was the last of thirteen children born to the late John Edward Cranford and Janie Pittman Cranford. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn Pace Cranford and son-in-law, Mike Hensley. Bill was a proud US Air Force Veteran and a life member of the Special Forces Association. He and Evelyn and their girls moved to Laurinburg, NC, where he was an automobile dealer for many years. The family moved back to Sanford, NC, where he continued in the automobile industry. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, a good day of golf and watching his garden grow.
Surviving are his three loving daughters, Patti Cranford Hensley, Alison Cranford White and husband Mark, Billie Cranford Bethune and husband Jonathan; two grandchildren, Austin White and Kash Bethune; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a graveside service where he will be laid to rest beside his wife Evelyn in the Barbecue Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 124 Barbecue Church Road, Sanford, NC 27332, on January 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project.
