Betty Elizabeth Mills Blalock Forbes, age 90, of Sanford, NC, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023 at Westfield Nursing & Rehab Center.
Born December 26, 1932 to Lenora and Charlie Mills; both have preceded her in death.
Betty was the oldest of four girls and is survived by Ernestine Black (Lloyd deceased), Ruth Buffkin (Cleo deceased) and preceded in death by their sister, Lannie Lambert (Russ living).
Betty had two husbands that preceded her in death, John Henry (Jr) Goins and Charles Allen Blalock. She is survived by three children, Charles “PeeWee” Goins (Hope), Pam Blalock Kos (Tim), Gary Blalock (Paula) and preceded in death by two daughters Linda Blalock Carter (Jimmy) and Terry Blalock Dinkens (Tommy surviving). Betty is also survived by twelve grandchildren Tim Goins (Nicole), Michael Goins (Jennifer), Adam Goins (Maegan), Megan Blalock Tyler (Micah), Jared Blalock (Sara), Kim Carter Black (Ricky), Robin Carter Chippewa (Joey), Dale Carter (Sandra), Tara Dinkens Ragan (Brian), Tracey Dinkens, Tricia Dinkens Brown (Shane), Kristina Kos; additionally, blessed by twenty-two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two grandchildren; granddaughter Gwendolyn Hope Goins and grandson, Randy Carter (Debbie).
Betty’s most recent favorite past-time activities included reading her Bible, family and friends visits/phone calls, enjoying photos and videos of the great-grandchildren and bird watching.
Betty grew up on a farm in Harnett County, NC and lived the majority of her adult life in Lee County, NC. Her life’s work spanned farming, industrial misc. manufacturing (Cornell Dublier, A.J. Schneirson, Federal Spinning, Cascade Fibers) and retail (Misc).
Betty’s greatest passion was proclaiming her salvation and faith in Jesus Christ. She was an ordained pastor in the Gospel Outreach ministry and served in both domestic and foreign ministries. Domestically she served in prison ministries and evangelism. Her foreign ministry included multiple missions to Ecuador.
A funeral service will be at Holly Springs Baptist Church, Broadway, NC on Friday 2:00 PM with a brief graveside service immediately following the funeral service. The service will be officiated by Betty’s former Pastor Donald Kivett and Betty’s son Charles “PeeWee” Goins. Family and friend’s visitation will be one-hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
