Barry Mark Poindexter, age 53, of Holly Ridge, N.C., formerly of Sanford, died Friday December 26, 2014.

Mr. Poindexter was born on Dec. 4, 1961, in Lee County, N.C. to Glenn Poindexter and Joyce Griffin Thomas. He was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Koch and by his step-father, George Thomas. He was employed by Performance Fibers.

He is survived by his father, Glenn Poindexter and wife Linda of Sanford; his mother, Joyce Thomas of Sanford; his wife, Sherry Ann Goodwin Poindexter of Holly Ridge, N.C.; two step-sons, Rodney Blanks and wife, June of South Boston, Virginia and Matthew "Matt" Blanks of Sanford; brother, Terry Glenn Poindexter and wife, Kimberly of Midland, Texas and five step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM (one hour prior to the funeral service) at Rocky Fork Christian Church Sanctuary. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at 2:00 PM at Rocky Fork Christian Church in Sanford. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
