Barbara Lee (Suggs) McNeill

Barbara Lee Suggs McNeill, age 90, of Broadway, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Asheville, NC, on February 1, 1935. She was preceded in death by her father, Leo H. Suggs, Sr.; mother, Elva Lee Morgan Suggs; husband, John McNeill; daughter, Beverly Cochran Root; and grandson, Ryan Cochran.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her son, Warren E. Cochran, Jr. (Sue); brothers, Winn Suggs (Connie) and Leo Suggs; grandson, Matthew Cochran; great-granddaughter, Gabby Cochran; and special friend and pastor, Jean Hall.

Barbara will be remembered for her vibrant presence—always the “life” of the party. She treasured precious times with her friends and family and deeply cherished her church family as well. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. A dedicated nurse for 50 years, she spent the last 45 years of her career at Womack Hospital, Fort Bragg, NC.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with Rev. Ralph Douglas officiating.
