Barbara Jean (Thomas) McNeill

Barbara J. Thomas McNeill, age 84, of Cameron, NC passed away on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in Arden, NC, with her niece Angela by her side.

Barbara was born in Lee County on December 11, 1940, the daughter of the late Eloise D. Thomas.  In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Francis McNeill.

She is survived by her sister, Carol; nieces Angela, Johanna, and Billie.

Barbara worked as an account secretary for Weyerhaeuser Corporation and was most well-known for being a server at the former Peggy’s Seafood Restaurant in Swans Station. She was a graduate of Broadway High School, and attended two years of business college.

Barbara loved spending time at the beach. She enjoyed baking and cooking. Barbara was especially well known for her homemade Christmas candies. She also found joy in gardening, watching her ducks in the backyard pond, and crafting with her late husband, Raymond.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Baptist Chapel Church Cemetery in Broadway, with Pastor Paul Backlund officiating.
