Barbara Celia (Williams) Johnson

Barbara Celia Williams Johnson, age 59, of Sanford, NC, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025, after a long, hard, courageous three-year battle with colon cancer.    Her loving family was by her side.

She was born in Lee County on April 28, 1966 to Robert Williams and Ruth Mills Buffkin.  Her father and her step-father, Cleo Buffkin preceded her in death.

In addition to her mother Ruth Mills Buffkin, Barbara is survived by her husband Larry Steven “Steve” Johnson; daughter Amber Turney (Oscar); son Stewart Tyner (Nicole); step-children Michael Johnson (Ashley), Ashleigh Johnson (Matt); siblings Keith Howard (Cathy), Robin Williams (Jayne); step-brother Danny Buffkin (Donna), step-sister Cyndi Preast (Jim); grandchildren Caroline Turney, Tanner Blackmon, Connor Johnson, Grayson Johnson and her fur-baby cocker spaniel Rudy.  Also included in her family would be very close and dear friends, neighbors and co-workers who all held a special place in her life. 

Barbara graduated from Lee County High School Class of 1984 and went on to work as Assistant Manager for Burger King before joining Allied Signal/Honeywell/Performance Fibers for 24 years.  She enjoyed going to the beach and swimming in the pool every chance she got.  She loved her family and friends more than anything.  Barbara’s faith was unwavering and she is reaping her reward in Heaven.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 4, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and other times at the home of Amber and Ruth, 1107 Ray Ave., Sanford, NC 27330.  The funeral will be held Tuesday, August 5th at 11:00 AM at Sanford First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Bryan Talton and Pastor Tony Ward officiating.  Burial will follow at Lee Memory Gardens.
