Arlene Frances Lyons Ash, age 95, of Moncure, NC, died Friday, July 17, 2020 at The Laurels of Chatham in Pittsboro.
She was born in Kanawha County, West Virginia on September 21, 1924 to the late Hobert Clayton Lyons and Ida Frances Goins Lyons. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Mosel Ash; a son William “Billy” Norman Ash and numerous brothers and sisters. Arlene was a member of Flat Springs Baptist Church and loved the Joy-Ora Bridges Sunday School Class. She also volunteered for the Chatham County Council on Aging until her health didn’t allow her to volunteer any longer.
She is survived by her daughter Joyce Ash Thrift and husband Curtis of Pittsboro; sister Phyllis Jean Harmon of Sanford; sister-in-law Jean Maddox Lyons of Sanford; 4 grandchildren Lisa Sheffield of Johns Creek, GA, Tracy Arlene Plenzler of Lake Mary, FL, Chad Ash and Scott Ash of Supply, NC and 6 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Monday, July 20, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Flat Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Gary McCollough officiating. There will be no visitation.
