Archie Lee Dalyrmple, 79, of Sanford, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at his home.
He was born in Lee County on May 28, 1947 to the late Silas Leroy Dalrymple and Frances Louise Stack Dalrymple. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Carlton Leroy Dalrymple, Charles Raymond Dalrymple, James Franklin Dalrymple and Clyde Eugene Dalrymple.
He is survived by his wife Gloria; son Brian Dalrymple of Sanford and daughter Amy Adams (Adam) of Sanford; sister Sarah Godfrey of Sanford; brother Ernest Dalrymple (Carolyn) of Sanford; brother-in-law Gerald Thomas. He dearly loved his three grandchildren Bryson, Chase, and Bella in addition to two step-grandsons Dylan and Seth Adams.
Archie was the owner of Archie Dalrymple Plumbing Company. He left the plumbing field to become a Sanford Building Inspector. He worked for the City of Sanford for 20 plus years. He then took a job working for The Pantry convenience store chain. He worked more than 25 years in the construction department until his retirement. Archie was a veteran and served in the Army Reserves. He loved the outdoors. He enjoyed working his garden and going fishing. He would fish for hours. Later he became an avid golfer (a game he said he would never play.) He became a good golfer and he played in some tournaments winning a couple trophies.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 28, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 1:50 PM at Shallow Well Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. Robert Thomas and Rev. Ronnie Byrd officiating. Burial will be in the Kelly Family Cemetery.
