Albert (Shorty) Preston Maddox

Albert (Shorty) Preston Maddox, age 89, of Sanford passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019.

Albert was born in Lee County, North Carolina and was the son of the late Bertis Maddox and Leadie Yarborough Maddox.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twelve half-brothers and sisters; two brothers, Graden Maddox and Delma Maddox, and one sister, Sadie Phelps.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Mimms Maddox; his daughter, Sylvia Fajgenbaum and husband, Michael; grandson, Phillip Fajgenbaum, and grandaughater, Kristen Fajgenbaum. 

After retiring from Trion in 1994 he enjoyed his days fishing with his buddies, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.  Albert was happiest outside and truly respected and appreciated the beauty of nature.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 3:30 PM at Edgewood Presbyterian Church with Dr. William Hayes officiating.  Burial will follow in Shallow Well Cemetery.
