Thomas "Tommy" Hayes Mullis, 55, of Sanford, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, April 7, 2007, after a brief battle with brain cancer, with his family by his side. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Tommy is survived by his sisters Katherine Dew (John) of Raleigh and Nancy Kelly (Johnny) of Sanford. He is also survived by his nephews Kevin Kelly and Keith Kelly.

Tommy was born to the late Tom and Louise Mullis. He grew up in Sanford and attended Sanford Central High School. He graduated from Western Carolina University. He was a Juvenile Court Counselor for 28 years before retiring in 2001. He served on numerous youth advisory councils and was the cofounder of the Lee County Restitution Program. The family would like to thank everyone who has offered their kind thoughts and wonderful memories of Tommy. He was an extraordinary man and he fully enjoyed life.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and other times at 2121 Lee Avenue.
