Steven Ray Mitchell, age 70, of Sanford died on July 9, 2017 at Liberty Commons Assisted Living Facility in Sanford.  He was born in Virginia on May 16, 1947 to the late John Baptist Mitchell and Virginia Kathleen (Womble) Mitchell Morgan. 

Mr. Mitchell is survived by daughters, Michelle Mitchell Johnson (Edwin) and Crystal Mitchell, who reside in Sanford and one son, Dustin Mitchell (Lauren), who resides in Holly Springs; grandchildren Caleb and Cassidy Johnson, Mylee Mitchell, and Isabel and Berkley Mitchell; sister, Susan Hodges; and longtime companion, Gertrude Sparzynski.

The family will have a private service.  Visitation will be at the home of Edwin and Michelle Johnson located at 1610 Cool Springs Road, Sanford, NC on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 6-8 pm.

The family is very thankful for the support of friends and family during this difficult time.  They would like to thank the staff at Liberty Commons Assisted Living Facility and Hospice during the past month.
