Robert Lynn Jones, age 80, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, August 10, 2017 at Duke University Medical Center.

He was born in Hancock County, WV on April 25, 1937 to the late Alex McLeod Jones and Helen Dunlevy Jones.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter Patricia Jones and siblings Alex M. Jones, Jr., Donald P. Jones, Merle Jones, Edith Jones Dean, Jean Jones, Roger Jones and Richard Jones.

Mr. Jones was a member of Center United Methodist Church.  He ministered through the church as an active volunteer in various ways.  He enjoyed volunteering at the Bread Basket and was a coordinator of the Neighborhood Watch program and worked Citizen’s Patrol through the Sheriff’s office.

He is survived by his wife Eileen Treusch Jones; sons Robert Alan Jones and wife Sandy of Sanford, Randall S. Jones and wife Lhea Ann of New Manchester, WV; daughters Deborah R. Lowther of Sanford, Roberta L. Parnicza and husband George of Weirton, WV, Lynne A. Bedsole and husband James of Eatonton, GA; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mr. Jones will be held Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Center United Methodist Church with Rev. Jarrod Davis officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  There will be no formal visitation.
