Richard Scott Buchanan, Sr., age 81, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at his home.

He was born in Harnett County on December 8, 1935 to the late Neil Buchanan and Laura Gaster Buchanan.  He was the former owner and operator of Jonesboro Dry Cleaners.  He proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a longtime and faithful member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia White Buchanan.

Surviving relatives include his two sons, Richard Scott Buchanan, Jr and wife, Angela of Sanford, Jeffrey Joseph Buchanan and wife, Angie of Sanford; one daughter, Cynthia Buchanan Cole and husband, Rodney of Sanford; three brothers, Gene Buchanan and wife, Marilyn of California, Ronnie Buchanan and wife, Elisa of Texas and Perry Buchanan and wife, Cherie of South Carolina; one sister, Sara Aderhold and husband, Paul of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Amanda Place, Alex and Erin Buchanan; two great-grandchildren, Kaden and Mattie Brame.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Sayles officiating.  Burial will follow in Jonesboro Cemetery.
