Ralph Stephen Harrington

Ralph Stephen Harrington, age 87, of Sanford, passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019 at Central Carolina Hospital.

He was born in Harnett County on February 3, 1932 to the late John Harrington and Annie Jane McNeill Harrington.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Janet F. Harrington; brothers Charles Harrington, John Harrington (Shufford) and Dewey Harrington and nephew John Stephen Harrington (Steve). Ralph attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was very active in the Glee Club while a student.  At Chapel Hill, he sang with the Blue Notes who made it to American Bandstand in 1960.  Later, he sang with The Executives with Paul Kelly and Jim Kimball providing entertainment at Pinehurst Country Club. Singing was his life and brought him so much enjoyment.  Ralph worked with Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant prior to retiring.    

He is survived by his son John B. Harrington of Whitsett; daughter Lesley H. Moore and husband Russell of Broadway; stepson Kevin Knight of Wilmington; stepdaughter Tori Knight Ferguson and husband RC and their son Cormac of Knightdale.  He is also survived by his former wife and friend for life Flora B. Harrington of Sanford.
