Peggy Little Obituary

Peggy Jean Gray Little, 80, formerly of Moncure, NC, passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018 after battling dementia for several years.  Peggy was born in Lee County, NC on October 31, 1937, the only child of loving parents, John Clifton “Nick” Gray and Ethel Thomas Gray.  She was thankful to have grown up in the Cape Fear Village at the Cape Fear Steam and Electric Plant in Moncure, NC where she made life-long friends.  Peggy was a proud 1955 graduate of Moncure High School where she enjoyed playing basketball and singing the school song; she sang it word for word most recently at her 80th birthday dinner.  Following graduation from Hardbarger Business College, she worked for Sanford Radio and TV until she assumed her most cherished role as a stay-at-home wife and mother to her 3 sons.  Peggy attended Lee’s Chapel Christian Church while growing up and married Tommy Little there on July 20, 1962.   After 33 years of living in Winston Salem and Kernersville, NC, she and Tommy retired in her hometown of Moncure.  She joined the Moncure Methodist Church and the same “Eight of Hearts” Canasta Club she had been a member of in the 1960’s and 70’s.  Tommy and Peggy celebrated 50 years of marriage before his death on June 13, 2013.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Beth Little of Mocksville, NC, Gray and Tonda Little of Matthews, NC, and Grant Little of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren Bethany Miller (Grant), Jacob Little (fiancée Sydney Darnell), Caleb, Seth, Micah and Moriah Little, and Makayla Spencer, and one precious great-grandson Barrett Miller, as well as several special cousins.

A celebration of Peggy’s life and her Savior will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 3:00pm at Moncure United Methodist Church with Rev.  Jim Brady officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the Moncure United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Peggy loved flowers and her church.  Donations can be made to Moncure United Methodist Church, 16 Post Office Road, Moncure, NC 27559 and/or Autumn Care of Mocksville, 1007 Howard Street, Mocksville, NC 27028.
