Monica Susan Barnes Thompson, age 51, of Gastonia, NC died Sunday, August 26, 2018.

She was born in Wake County, NC on September 29, 1966 to Glen Winfred Barnes and the late Jean Womble Barnes.

Monica is survived by her former husband, David Michael Thompson; two sons, Matthew Brian Barnes and wife, Nicole of Helena, Alabama, Michael Scott Thompson of Montebello, Alabama; daughter, Taylor Nicole Thompson of Montebello, Alabama; step-daughter, Christine Thompson Lee of Wilmington, NC; four brothers, Rock Anthony Barnes and wife, Carla of Sanford, NC, Jeffrey Curtis Barnes of Sanford, NC, Gregory Douglas Barnes and wife, Toni of York, SC, Gary Wayne Barnes of Sanford, NC; sister, Sheila Denise Barnes of Seal Beach, California; Aunt, Susan Hodges and five grandchildren.
