Mary "Jo" Josephine (Tarpey) Kelly

Mary Josephine “Jo” Kelly, age 82, of Sanford, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born in Lee County on June 9, 1937 to the late Tom Tarpey and Mattie Redding Tarpey.  Jo, as she was affectionally known, worked many years for WC Koury Company as a seamstress and loved her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, of 63 years, Bobby Ray Kelly; daughter Susie Kelly Thomas; son Johnnie Kelly and wife Sally; brother David Tarpey and wife Judy; grandchildren Victoria Gunter and husband Jarren and Zachary Thomas all of Sanford.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Turners Chapel Church cemetery with Dr. Mike Johnson officiating.  The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the graveside service until 12:00 noon.
