Martha Jane (Brown) Winstead

Mrs. Martha Jane Brown Winstead, age 88, of Sanford, NC., died Monday, February 26, 2018, at Westfield Health Center.

Mrs. Winstead was born in Hickory, NC on December 3, 1929 to the late Prater Jerry Brown and Virgie Poovey Brown.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Winstead was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey Waylon “Duck” Winstead; a sister, Elvena Coley; and three brothers, Wilbern, Nelson and Sterling Brown.

She was a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  Her warm smile and beautiful blue eyes will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Winstead and wife, Vicki of Cary, NC and Michael Winstead and wife, Linda of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Chris Winstead, Michelle Dudley and Jessica Winstead; great-grandchildren, Tylor Winstead, Tanner Winstead, Brittany Dudley and Trevor Dudley; daughter-in-law, Donna Poe.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 2, 2018 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.  A celebration of life will follow at 11:30 AM with Dr. Calvin Sayles and Rev. Tommy Spence officiating.
