Mae Hancock Dunlap Scarbrough, age 74, of Sanford, NC, died Thursday, September 5, 2019, at her home.
She was born in Mecklenburg County, NC on August 8, 1945 to the late Eula Mae Hancock. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Dunlap. Mae worked for Abbott Labs, Pilkington Glass and was a nurse’s aide for many years. She and her husband Daniel loved to dance and danced every Saturday night at the Enrichment Center of Lee County but shopping was her favorite hobby.
She is survived by her husband Daniel Freeman Scarbrough; children Robin Thompson and husband Vince of Laurinburg, NC, Dawn Morton of Anderson, SC, Royce Young and wife Chasity of Asheboro, NC, Mitchell Young and wife Suwan of Laurinburg, NC; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 9, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home and the funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home with Rev. LeGrande Taylor officiating. Entombment will follow at Lee Memory Gardens Chapel Mausoleum.
